Hi there my lovies!!! I do realize that I have really neglected both this blog, and my youtube channel, and I apologize, as I mentioned briefly in my last blog post 2 months ago, wow has it really been that long? I have been having some health issues. Well, I am finally ready to talk about it, so I am going to share in this post. I think it will help me with coming to terms with what is going on, and maybe help spread the awareness to others. I feel like even if I spread the word, even just a little, I could help others, so I am going to try my best to keep this, and future posts open, and honest as a sort of way of my expressions, and feelings regarding my health. I also would love any feedback / suggestions/ guidance/ support that others have, and very much welcome your comments, and communication with me. Okay, so I have to mention the irony in my being a butterfly lover, and the disease that I am now diagnosed with, who would have thought huh? I sure as heck wouldn’t have!!! 😦

I feel like I am learning so much through researching that honestly it is a bit overwhelming, but I know there is so much more to learn, and know that change will take time, and some getting used to. I think it’s a good idea to start from the beginning, because I think that’s always a good place to start, so I am going to go with that, thank you for reading, I truly appreciate each, and every one of you, thank you from the bottom of my heart 🙂

Alright, I can’t write this blog without a little scientific explanation, and reasoning, I have done so much research I feel like my head is going to explode, and there is so much more to know. Hashimoto’s thyroiditis or chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis is an autoimmune disease in which the thyroid gland is attacked by a variety of cell- and antibody-mediated immune processes, causing primary hypothyroidism. It was the first disease to be recognized as an autoimmune disease. In essence, my hypothyroidism is caused by Hashimoto’s disease. I know it doesn’t really make sense, but when you have hashimoto’s disease, you kind of have both, or there is a reason for your hypothyroidsm. The thyroid gland is part of your endocrine system, which produces hormones that coordinate many of your body’s activities. Yep, you read that correct, it affects EVERYTHING……great right? Your thyroid gland is pretty darn important, and plays a vital role in your body. If your thyroid is not functioning properly you may or may not even know it, until it gets so severe (like mine) you know something is wrong.

hypothyroidism

I am going to start with how I knew something was wrong. It all began about 8 months ago, wow writing that seems like a long time that I was dealing with it that’s for sure, it began with what I thought was depression, and anxiety, and just pure exhaustion on a daily basis, I was loosing tons of hair, my skin was dry, I was always freezing cold, overly puffy face, poor hearing, I had a hard time concentrating, I gained 10 pounds, I was depressed, had horrible heavy periods, my bowels were different, sorry TMI on those, trying to be honest here, I could go on, I had every symptom for the most part. I went to the doctor, feeling so fed up, and done with the way I was living for so many months, and we both decided that putting me on an anti depression medication would help, no other tests were done, and I really thought that the medication was the answer, boy was I ever wrong.

Let me just say that yes, I believe in western medicine, and although I do know that not everyone will agree with me, and everyone is entitled to their own beliefs, and opinions, including myself, I just wanted to put it out there, as I continue this journey, I truly hope to not offend anyone. Anyways, I was on the medication for 7 months, and it really wasn’t helping, even with an increase in dosage, I saw little to no results, or improvement. I continued, and I got to the point where enough was enough, and back to the doctor I went 2 months ago. I was so incredibly exhausted every day, emotionally drained, and depressed. I knew, deep in my heart that something was wrong. I was at my doctors appointment, and I mentioned, hey I am really, really tired everyday, like I can barely get through the day tired, and have some other symptoms that I would like to discuss with you as well, so I realized, and wanted tests to be ran to really try and figure out what was going on. That day a ton of blood tests were ran, I honestly thought to myself, everything will be fine, I’m healthy, I have nothing to worry about. After a few days, I got the test results, well sure enough my thyroid wasn’t functioning at optimal levels, my heart sunk, tears started running down my face, and honestly didn’t know what to feel, or what to think. I was glad to have answers, but sad knowing what the future holds as well. My diagnoses wasn’t confirmed, my doctor wanted to take additional tests to confirm it just in case, so more tests that day were done, good thing I don’t mind needles I tell ya. A day went by, and I tried not to think about it, or stress myself over it until I knew for sure. Well, my doctor confirmed that I had hypothyroidism, and my levels were very low sadly. I won’t get into the specific tests that were done, because well, they are personal, and if in the future I feel comfortable sharing then I definitely will, but for now, I will just keep those aspects of my health brief, but I am also going to mention that I have low levels of Vitamin D,Vitamin B, and Iron as well, and am now on supplements for those being so low to help regulate them to more normal levels. Later, I was told that I have Hashimoto’s, and that it is causing my hypothyroidism. I thought to myself, great it just keeps getting better…… I was so glad that my Mom went with me to that appointment that’s for sure, her support has continued to be amazing, thanks Mom (and Dad too) I am so lucky to have such a wonderful, supportive family that’s for sure.

The appointment that day felt like it lasted hours, seriously I was like a sponge absorbing so much information, and knowledge, I felt like I couldn’t get enough, yet it was so difficult to take all in, and know that this will be a new lifestyle that I will have to get used to. My doctor recommended several things as far as diet, and lifestyle changes, taking a daily medication, fitness, maintaining good sleep, stress level control, etc. I knew this was all going to be totally different for me, and to be honest, I still haven’t really focused on most of these, or truly worked hard on them since getting diagnosed. She was really pushing a paleo diet, ummm this girl can’t live without dairy, or bread, seriously I just can’t, but I am cutting back a lot, and eating better, but I have to remind myself that I’m not perfect, and changes take time, and to hang in there, all I can do is make the effort. (I need to be better about remembering those) Just taking the medication every day is not enough, I wish it was that easy, but over the past 2 months it is proving that the changes all need to happen, and be in place for me to get better, and maintain this disease, only I can choose to change, I know that. I have a follow up appointment in a couple weeks, I’m interested to see how my levels are doing, and what else can be done to maintain, I am also wanting to get a referral to an endocrinologist as well, for more information, etc. I really want to see my symptoms improve, especially because it’s the best time of the year outside here in Oregon right now, sun just makes me happy, and am so thankful for the wonderful kids in my life that I get to enjoy it with as well every day! I just want to be able to have enough energy to truly appreciate, and enjoy everything.

I wanted to end this with thanking you for reading, and coming along with me on this journey, I know it will be good for me to write about it, I will try and post updates monthly if not bi- weekly to keep everyone updated, etc. Please feel free to share this post, and leave comments, I always respond to every comment posted. I am hoping to now finally be back in the blogging community, but just expanding my focus on not just beauty, and subscription boxes, etc, but throwing in some lifestyle, and adventure posts like this one as well, I am excited about this beautiful weather to come, I hope all of you are enjoying some sunshine (or snow) as well!! Thanks for your thoughts, and continued support. New blog posts are coming, so stay tuned! 🙂

Hello, you must be a fellow snack lover, or subscription box junkie, or looking for a new snack box to try out, well welcome, I am right there with ya! Graze is a monthly snack subscription box that offers a HUGE variety of tasty, delicious snacks that YOU get to choose! I have tried Graze in the past, and have really liked it, but they were sending me those boxes for review, well since I loved it so much in the past, I decided to subscribe, they also are now offering a double box for a great price, so I said why not? As some of you may know I was a subscriber, and loved nibblr snack box for a year, until they went out of business, which I was really sad about because I loved their snacks, and won a $500 gift card from them, so I definitely was a supporter!

I looked at the graze website, and gave the free trial box a try again, I loved everything inside, and think the packaging is the perfect snack amount, so I decided it was a great snack box for me! I want to share my box with you every month to see what you can get inside, and how the snacks are ones that you actually pick, that is the best part about graze! I have tried out other snack boxes as well, and you get what you get in the box, and sometimes you don’t like the snacks they choose, etc. and won’t eat them, when you paid for them, which stinks, let’s be real here, but that’s why graze is so different because you go through their entire collection and select which snacks you love, like, or want to try, it kinda works like that. you can also change your selections at any time, constantly changing it up if you want, cool huh? I was sold when I got the tester box, done deal, what great snacks for not a bad price, and I get to try new foods, and snacks that I normally wouldn’t, and the best part is that they are healthy, well mostly they are lol, but they taste freaking amazing too! Let’s check out what I got in my first double box, fyi if your wanting to subscribe I would totally get the double, it’s a great deal, and you get 8 snacks! I do want to mention that you can choose how often you get your box, I choose to get it monthly, because that’s enough for me, you can get it weekly, bi weekly, or monthly.

If you would like to try graze out use the code RENEEK9KP to get your first box for free, after that you can decide to subscribe, or cancel, whichever you choose. Like I said, your first box is FREE, yep totally FREE!!!!!

2 subscription box options: $6 a box for 4 snacks & $12 a box for 8 snacks!

Buddhibox Yoga Inspired Subscription Box Review August 2015

FullSizeRender 13

Hi there loves! I am so happy that I got to receive, and review another buddhibox! I love everything in this month’s box, and feel very lucky to be able to get this amazing box every month to review. I usually do a video, and blog post comparing the two boxes, yogisurprise with buddhibox, but I don’t think that’s fair to each company, so I have now decided to do two separate blog posts, I think it just makes more sense, and feel like they deserve their own as well 🙂 Buddhibox is a yoga, natural, active lifestyle subscription box, it’s not as well known yet, and I am happy to help spread the word, because I really do enjoy everything that I have gotten so far in my boxes. I think the price is a great value, for what your getting in the box, and the variety of products, and brands that are offered each month is great as well. I love that they include products from brands I have never heard of, and wouldn’t normally get the opportunity to try if it wasn’t for buddhibox. They seem to work with smaller, less known companies, even some etsy shops that are handmade, it doesn’t get much better than that! These boxes are such fun surprises, because  you never know what you will get, or get to try out, that’s how I have discovered so many amazing brands is from subscription boxes, win win for everyone 🙂

Buddhibox now has two different subscription options. There is a monthly subscription box that is lifestyle based, then there is a seasonly subscription box that is only jewelry, a lot like the other company I mentioned above, but I don’t want to compare the two anymore, and just focus on what’s great about each company, and box instead. Okay, I just looked on the website, and apparently they aren’t offering the jewelry box anymore, at least not this month or season for fall hasn’t come out yet, because it’s completely gone from the website, bummer, so we will just discuss the monthly box.

There are different price options, which are a bit confusing as far as pricing, and what your looking for so I will include it in this post below. I do think the box is a good deal, especially if you decide to get the best deal at purchasing a 12 month subscription. The value is definitely there, and the box value is consistently over the price you would pay monthly for the subscription, sounds great right? This box is perfect for anyone that loves a special treat (like a present) every month, and it doesn’t matter if you practice yoga in your life or not, because it’s more gift based, and contains the perfect items for anyone! My favorite item from the box this month was the necklace, I love anything with lotus flowers, and this was beautiful, it is from an etsy shop, and handmade as well, it seems like it is good quality, although I wish it was sterling silver, so it wouldn’t color, and I could wear it in the shower, etc, but that’s okay. I love it, and will definitely wear it, it’s so danty, and I love little charm necklaces like that, so it’s perfect, I also think that the incense that were in the box this month, smell freaking amazing, OMG they make my house smell so good, and it instantly relaxes, and calms me, weird that a scent can do that! This is my favorite box that I have gotten so far! I love it! I hope next month’s is just as great, if not better!

Bzzagent Review for Kellogg’s Special K cereal & Special K chewy nut bars

logo_bzzagent

Yeah, hello there lovies! I hope everyone is doing great today. I am going to share with you today a review of the bzzagent products I got to review! I got in for the Kellogg’s one, which included 2 items, they were the Kellogg’s special k protein cereal in the flavor “cinnamon brown sugar crunch” and for the kellogg’s special k chewy nut bars in the flavor ” chocolate almond”. I did receive full size products, and coupons to share as well. I was happy because I really do enjoy special k cereals, I actually buy the berry one all the time, it’s one of my favorites, and I’m not just saying that, it’s the truth! I think I love special k so much because I pretty much grew up being a cereal lover, my parents, siblings, and I still all are HUGE cereal eaters. It’s like a separate meal, or snack to us, nothing is better than a bowl of cereal at night when your hungry, and can’t think of what to eat! My mom has always loved special k, she would have it every morning, I went to visit my parents the other day, and low, and behold there was a box of special k cereal in the cabinet! I told them about this new protein cereal they are coming out with, and how good it was!

image2 3I am so glad that I got the flavor that I did, because it’s right up my ally, I love cinnamon anything, so it was perfect, and it really filled me up for longer than a normal cereal does, I know that sounds odd, but I think it’s because it’s more dense, so it truly keeps you satisfied longer! I also tried the chewy nut bars as well those are delicious too, they are the perfect on the snack, or a fast breakfast, I have been eating them in my car, I know, I know, lol, on my way to work, they are chewy in texture so not messy at all like some other bars are, yeah for less mess in the car, ha ha! I am not a huge fan of nutty bars though, it’s more the oat part that I like the best, or chocolate, but these were actually pretty good, and didn’t have that strong almond nutty flavor, the chocolate was the perfect amount. While eating the bar it was like I was eating a candy bar like snickers, except no caramel, that would have been nice though! They are both great for anytime, and am so glad I had the chance to try them out for free from bzzagent, if you don’t know what bzzagent is definitely check it out, it’s a great product review website, and very easy to use, I have gotten several things to review from them in the past 2 years, some are really great products, so join if you haven’t totally free to join, and start reviewing. I have a link in my sidebar to join! Bzzagent is awesome, truly one of my favorite sites for reviews, and opinions!

Love With Food Snack Box Unboxing & Review August 2015

FullSizeRender 12

Screen Shot 2015-08-29 at 10.54.08 AM

Yeah for snacking right? I hope everyone is having a great weekend so far although it’s only Saturday morning. I definitely have a busy weekend planned ahead of me, lots to get accomplished, and it actually rained the past 2 days, crazy it hasn’t rained in what seems like forever, we definitely needed it! The sun is shining now though, but definitely still a storm is a brewing again!

I am so ready to eat these delicious snacks lol, so I really wanted this to get done! Love with food is a great snack subscription box, that offers organic, healthy, gluten free snack options. There is a huge variety, and tons of different, and unique brands that are offered in the box every month. They definitely know how to keep it fresh, and keep their subscribers interested, that’s always a good thing! I bought a 3 month subscription on a discount website, I think it was groupon so I got the box for around $9 each both for the deluxe snack box, which to try out is a great deal compared to the full price subscription. This is my third, and final month because I choose a different snack box (which I will post soon) instead, because I love the variety, and convince better. As you know I was a HUGE fan of nibblr snack box, but they recently went out of business, I was so sad, and have been wanting to try other snack boxes to see what they had to offer. I think this snack box is worth it, especially since they lowered their prices on all the boxes! I just think it’s just not the perfect one for me, but I do really enjoy it, and love the variety, and options, especially that they are more healthy, and taste delicious! I also love that a lot of the brands are new to me, so if I like them I can use a coupon, or try and find them in my grocery store. The pricing for the boxes are down below, along with some pictures, and the video review so you can check them out, and see if this snack box is the right option, or not for you! Thanks for reading! 🙂 Happy snacking!

Buddhibox vs. Yogisurprise (lifestyle & jewelry boxes) July 2015

lotus_yoga_girl2 cropped-buddhiboxlogo

Screen Shot 2015-08-05 at 5.05.15 AM

Hi there lovies! I hope everyone is having a great start to their week, I have to admit I am definitely struggling this week, I haven’t been sleeping well, and feel like I have a never ending schedule, and to do list. Do you ever feel like that? I really need to get everything under control again, it’s not been fun that’s for sure!!! 😦

I know that I am super late on this review, and the video review, but it’s better late than never, it was a busy end of the month as always, and after this post I will be all caught up for July, yeah, feels great for now, until the end of August lol! Anyways I wanted to do another comparison for these two boxes because I feel like they are so similar, and it’s kinda fun to see what type of items are in each box, etc. This month though is definitely different than the boxes I compared in June, as one of these is the jewelry subscription box (yogi surprise) but, I still thought it was a good idea to compare. Buddhibox is actually just launching their very first jewelry subscription box as well in August, so this really is perfect timing for the review of both of these in reality, yeah for being late right?

Okay so both of these boxes are a monthly subscription service and, are pretty comparable as far as types of items, and price, along with retail values. They obviously vary a lot from month to month, but I think they are pretty equal, yet yogisurprise thus far seems to have more full size items included. I really do enjoy both of them, and honestly don’t know which one I like better! They both feature such younique, and special items, it’s difficult to choose a favorite. Let’s check out what items are in each box.

Here is the pricing for each box~

I think both of these boxes were great this month, which one did you like the best? My favorite item from the buddhibox was the candle, it is in the scent nag champa, and it totally reminds me of back in the day when I would burn incense, I love the smell, brought me right back that’s for sure! I always love candles though! My favorite from the yogisurprise is definitely the bracelet, the rose quartz is beautiful, and lotus flowers are my favorite!!! If you would like to subscribe to either of these boxes, please go ahead and go to the site, as I don’t have a link yet, or any promo codes, but will hopefully have them in the future!

graphics-snacks-385871

Oh yes it’s time for a love with food oh and let me tell you, this month is a good one! I literally just got done trying out and snacking on some of the products, I actually tried to take some food pics, and wow, food is SO hard to photograph with artificial lighting, and it made a mess, so ya ummm not gonna work, I tried though lol! How is food harder to take pictures of than makeup? No idea ha ha! Alright so love with food is a snack subscription box, and guess what? They just lowered their prices like this month, awesome right? Thanks love with food! I feel like it is definitely affordable, and worth it for the variety of snacks that you get, and they are healthier, good for you options which is always good! I will list the pricing down below if you are wanting to subscribe! I actually bought a groupon for 3 boxes, and it broke down at only $9 per box for the deluxe option. That 3 boxes option is no longer available, but there is one on right now for 1 box for $9 per box, but you only get one to try unfortunately. I think this is awesome if you want to give it a try! I love groupon I tell ya, always find amazing deals on there! Okay so my favorite snacks from this months box is definitely the bbq chips from one potato two potato, OMG they are so good, I ate them in like 2 seconds, I love kettle style chips so these were perfect, and they tasted delicious! I also loved the fruit snacks, yep I love me some fruit snacks, I can’t help it, the berry ones were delicious! Alrighty, let’s get right into some of the pictures! If you want to subscribe go to the website, and check it out! Thanks! Also please check out my video unboxing!
